Drums we've sold and/or are of historical significance!!!
This is a Drum Workshop (DW)  Buddy Rich Commemorative
Set. Only 32 of these sets were made. Manufacturing ceased
when Kathy Rich began the Buddy Rich Drum Company and
claimed sole rights to the Buddy Rich name. Solid shell snare!

Here we have one of the few, I've only seen two of these, solid
shell Buddy Rich Commemorative Snare Drums apart from the
Commemorative Set.
Now this is the original Gretsch Max Roach Signature Model
snare drum. Notice the Max Roach name plate, the Gladstone
single post lugs, and the 4 point Renoun strainer.
Notice the lack of the Max Roach name plate on this drum and
the Microsensitive strainer. This drum is the rarely seen
transition drum manufactured by Gretsch between the Max
Roach Model and the subsequent Progressive Jazz Model.

Many insert Max Roach's name when trying to sell these
Progressive Jazz snare drums. At this point Gretsch had
dropped Max Roach from the model name, changed the lug
design, and began using die-cast rims.

This is a Gretsch Name Band snare from the mid 1960s.
Gretsch had changed from the double flange "Stick Chopper"
rims to die-cast. The shell design had also changed from three
ply to six ply. The double pad internal muffler frame was no
longer squared off but rounded.

The Gretsch Floor Show model is a six-ply 6.5 x 14 snare that
otherwise is identical to the Name Band. Of course this also has
the Wide-42 power snares.
?

For historical purposes, the next change in the series is the
Gretsch Broadkaster "Max Roach" Model which is the same as
the Progressive Jazz except with "stick chopper" rims. Those
that came after this model were not Max Roach models
The Greatch Black Hawk is presented in catalog no. 45. It
differers from the earlier Rock And Roll outfit in the instead of
two 12 x 8 mounted toms it has a 13 x 9 and a 12 x 8. All of the
shells are 6-ply and the finish is the very rare Peacock Satin
Flame!!
Keeping with my attempt to present a pseudo chronological
order of the Gretsch drums we've had, this is the actual
Gretsch-Gladstone snare that appears in both Harry Cangany's
The Great American Drums (pg. 61) and John Aldridge's Guide
to Vintage Drums (pg. 159). Gretsch produced this drum in
conjunction with Bill Gladstone. It has the unique feature of
two-way tuning which, by way of special threading allows the top
and bottom heads to be tuned individually from the top of the
drum. Made in 1939, the shell is has 3-plies..
